Situated centrally in the Mediterranean Sea, Malta is 93Km off the coast of Sicily, Italy and 288Km north of Africa. It is a European Union member and forms part of the Eurozone. Its area is just 316Km and has a population of 400,000.

English is one of the country's official languages.

Malta is known for its world heritage sites, notably the Megalithic temples which are the oldest free-standing structures on earth. The island has a long history of architecture, influenced by many different Mediterranean cultures over its history. The artistic heritage of Malta blossomed under the Knights of St. John.

The long relationships between the Islanders and the various nationalities that occupied Malta over the centuries have created a marriage of styles and traditions, giving the Islands a fascinating eclectic culture.

With a superbly sunny weather, expansive beaches, a thriving nightlife and 7000 years of intriguing history, there is a great deal to see and do.
